PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICES

At Miller Place Auto Repair, we follow manufacturer-recommended maintenance schedules and apply real-world experience to keep your vehicle safe, reliable, and efficient. Routine preventative maintenance helps avoid unexpected breakdowns, protects your investment, and extends the life of your vehicle.

COOLING SYSTEM SERVICE

What’s Done: Drain and replace coolant, flush the system (if needed), inspect radiator, water pump, thermostat, and hoses

Why It Matters: Prevents overheating, corrosion, and internal engine damage by maintaining optimal temperature and system pressure.

BRAKE FLUID FLUSH

What’s Done: Flush and replace brake fluid, bleed system,

inspect lines and calipers

Why It Matters: Moisture in brake fluid reduces braking power and can corrode ABS components—flushing restores safe, responsive braking.

TRANSMISSION FLUID SERVICE

What’s Done: Drain and replace fluid, replace filter if applicable,

inspect for metal/debris

Why It Matters: Keeps transmission shifting smoothly, prevents overheating, and extends life—especially important for automatic, CVT, and DCT systems.

ENGINE AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT

What’s Done: Replace dirty or clogged filter

Why It Matters: Ensures proper airflow to the engine, protects internal parts, and helps maintain performance and fuel efficiency.

CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT

What’s Done: Replace cabin filter, inspect housing

Why It Matters: Improves interior air quality, reduces odors, and ensures proper HVAC airflow—essential for allergy sufferers and climate control.

HVAC & INTERIOR SANITIZING TREATMENT

What’s Done: Apply antimicrobial treatment through

HVAC vents and cabin

Why It Matters: Kills mold, mildew, and bacteria in the HVAC system and cabin surfaces, improving air quality and removing musty odors.

AIR INDUCTION SERVICE

What’s Done: Clean throttle body and intake to remove carbon buildup

Why It Matters: Restores fuel efficiency, smooth idle, and throttle response—especially on GDI engines prone to intake deposits.

BATTERY SERVICE

What’s Done: Test battery and alternator, clean terminals, check connections

Why It Matters: Ensures reliable starts, prevents no-start conditions, and extends battery and charging system life.

ENGINE OIL FLUSH

What’s Done: Add engine flush before oil change to

dissolve sludge and varnish

Why It Matters: Helps clean internal engine components and improve oil flow, especially in high-mileage or neglected engines.

TUNE-UP SERVICE

What’s Done: Replace spark plugs, inspect coils, PCV system,

sensors, and fuel delivery

Why It Matters: Restores power and fuel efficiency, reduces misfires, and keeps the engine running reliably as it ages.

A/C EVACUATION & RECHARGE SERVICE

What’s Done: Recover refrigerant, vacuum out air/moisture,

leak-test, recharge system

Why It Matters: Moisture in the system can cause acid formation or freezing. Evacuation removes air and moisture for maximum cooling efficiency and compressor protection—critical for hybrids and EVs that use A/C to cool electronics.

DIFFERENTIAL & TRANSFER CASE FLUID SERVICE

What’s Done: Drain and replace gear oil in differentials and

transfer case (4WD/AWD)

Why It Matters: Protects gears and bearings from wear and overheating— especially important for towing or off-road use.

FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING & INJECTOR SERVICE

What’s Done: Clean fuel injectors, intake valves, and fuel rail using pressurized equipment or chemical cleaners

Why It Matters: Restores injector spray pattern, combustion efficiency, and throttle response—reduces hesitation and improves fuel economy.

TIMING BELT OR TIMING CHAIN INSPECTION / REPLACEMENT

What’s Done: Replace timing belt or inspect timing chain tensioners/guides per manufacturer specs

Why It Matters: Prevents catastrophic engine failure on interference engines—timing issues can result in bent valves or piston damage.

SUSPENSION & STEERING SYSTEM SERVICE

What’s Done:
   •    Inspect ball joints, tie rods, control arms, and bushings for wear or damage
   •    Check shocks, struts, and sway bars for leaks or looseness
   •    Lubricate all accessible grease fittings to reduce friction and wear
   •    Re-pack serviceable wheel bearings with high-quality grease
   •    Check for abnormal tire wear and alignment issues

Why It Matters:
   •    Prevents clunking, vibration, and uneven tire wear
   •    Maintains proper handling and steering response
   •    Extends the life of suspension components
   •    Reduces the risk of wheel bearing failure
   •    Keeps your ride safe, smooth, and reliable

WHEEL ALIGNMENT

What’s Done: Adjust toe, camber, and caster to factory specs

Why It Matters: Ensures proper tire wear, handling, and vehicle stability— essential after suspension work or new tires.

EVAP SYSTEM INSPECTION & SERVICE

What’s Done: Perform EVAP leak testing (smoke test), inspect purge and vent valves, check charcoal canister and serviceable filters

Why It Matters: The EVAP (Evaporative Emission Control) system traps fuel vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. Leaks or valve faults can trigger the check engine light and cause failed inspections. Some systems also contain filters that require periodic replacement to function correctly.
